Everybody is looking for the best SEO tips regardless of whether they are bloggers or e-marketers. Who can blame them? Despite being told again and again that content is king, nobody can resist reaching for the shortest route. After all, writing unique content is tedious and if you are optimizing your blog for very competitive keywords, a little bit of SEO magic does help. I have my own share of writer’s block when building how to blog for newbies. Anyway, let’s get straight to the point.

Best SEO tip #1: If you are a new blogger, don’t waste time on individual landing page optimization.

It’s better to concentrate on optimizing the home page for one to three long-tailed keywords. In this way, you could build links for the blog as a whole instead of spending too much of your time in building on a single landing page. I’m not saying that you should forget about landing page optimization. SEO for a single page takes up too much work for beginners unless of course you are working on a sales page. Your objective should be to focus on building traffic to your blog.

Best SEO tip #2: Site Map

One of the best practice on SEO is about putting a site map on your blog site. WordPress offers some excellent sitemaps plugins that even a beginner can customize easily. All SEO services will provide a site map in the initial stage of their campaign.

Best SEO tip #3: You can optimize more than one keyword for a single post

The trick is to look for long tail keywords that branched out from the original word you are optimizing on. When you go to Google, look for an SEO tool called the ‘wonder wheel’ on the extreme left column of the page. This SEO tool will give you an idea on what other long tailed keywords people are looking for.

Best SEO tip #4: You can actually use frames for your blog

How To Blog For Newbies uses a template called Premium WordPress. In spite of the frames, my blog is still searchable by the infamous Google bots. Come on guys, there are more important things that need your attention; not frames !

Best SEO tip #5: Try as much as possible to use your own pictures.

If you really must use other people’s photographs in your blog, always remember to quote the source. As part of SEO best practices, always change the size and the caption of the picture so that the picture’s source code would look unique in the eyes of Google bots.

Best SEO tip #6: With the current technology of search engines, you can use flash.

Google and Yahoo have evolved by leaps and bounds. The integration of flash into your website is no longer an obstacle for search engines’ crawlers to find your blog. However, flash do slow down your site’s loading page significantly and this will turn your readers away to your competitors. And remember, always change your flash fortnightly so that it won’t bore your audiences.

Best SEO tip #7: Forget about achieving a high Google page rank.

Google has said this. Page rank will not influence your SERP ranking from 2010 and beyond.

Best SEO tip #8: There is no such thing as Best SEO Company in Google’s term.

Google only recognizes their revenue churning adwords or pay per click campaign as the best SEO strategy. By endorsing a best SEO company, the big G is actually telling the mass that there are ways to get around their infamous Google algorithm. Therefore, never be so naive as to believe anybody that tells you that their SEO firm is certified by Google.

Last but not least, get your complimentary eGuide on how to set up a blog by clicking on the link.

Already contemplating to buy links? Have your website or blog comes to a point where you think that the only way of getting quality backlinks is through link buying? When you resort to buy links, what do you have in mind? Boosting your blog’s page rank? Or do you just want some big traffics to come in via the links provided from established websites?

Source: mimifroufrou.com

Link buying can be helpful if you own an e-commerce site and is in a hurry to raise its search ranking. Links that were given freely a few years ago might require payment today. Many people believe that its unethical to buy links, and search engines certainly devalue such effort when they identify them. Who can blame them anyway. To Google or Bing, you should be putting your budget in adwords advertising instead of prospering other people.

Anyway, there are various issues that you have to consider before you burn your hard earned budget in buying links.

1. Beware of websites from link farms.

This is suicidal, what’s more if you have to pay for it. How can you tell which of these sites are money worth and legitimate source of links? Which are link farms or shammy websites trying to fool Google and gang? Identification has never been easy but there are some tell tale signs to spot the spammer

a. The site appears to have many links to sites that do not seem valuable, what’s more if those links look like advertisements.

b. If you own an e-commerce site, try to identify if any of the company listed sounds familiar to you. If not, run!

c. Check the page rank of the potential / suspicious site. A site with a very low page rank may spell disaster. Anyway, if we are prepared to pay for links, why settle for less? Go for those with at least a PR 4.

d. Your list of potential partners may have links that seem irrelevant to its topic. Can you identify a central theme in the blog or website? For example, slash off a site with links to pharmaceutical, banking, photography all sitting side by side.

e. Check the IP address of the list of links you have identified. We don’t want two or more sites coming from the same IP address. In-breeding is unhealthy.

If after going through your directory and all the above tell tale signs don’t show up, well yes, go ahead and ask for quotation.

2. Spread out the campaign.

Search engines especially Google are especially apt in identifying backlink trends. Google is not God, but it’s status is near Demi-God in the internet world! It sees and observe what you are doing and the worse thing is, they get better every minute.

Usually websites or blogs tend to get links from smaller sites. As your blog progress and your knowledge on a particular subject deepens, you start to attract the big fish. Therefore, links from several high PR sites suddenly appearing overnight linking to your blog will sound the alarm of suspicious link buying. As a result, search engines will look for link patterns and will devalue them.

So, if you want to play this game, play it smart. A high PR website linking to your blog once every two months is more meaningful then 10 super sites coming in within a week.

Source: ttam1989.files.wordpress.com

3. Give due consideration to reputable link partners.

a. Trade magazines. Their integrity makes them highly respected links. The journalist will be interested if the pages you suggest offer genuine service for readers seeking more information. A short URL helps too. Very useful for e-commerce websites and commercial blogs.

b. Reputable bloggers. Need I say this again and again. Who would discount the links from Chris Brogan, Problogger (forget about this coz Google has bought over the website) and Steve Pavlina. Make sure you get a DoFollow from their site if you do get a quote from them.

c. Research sites. If you are blogging about a product or it happens that your website carries a well researched scientific instrument, you may attract the attention from educational and commercial research sites. If you are lucky, they may just give you the link free.

d. Related sites. They could mean competing sites or even synergistic ones. If you own a hotel website, why not request links from reputable travel blogs.

e. Your personal network. This is a no brainer. If your mum owns a big conglomerate with an in-house portal, get a link from her. Just make sure the IP address is different.

4. Your campaign should depends on your objective for buying links.

If your objective is merely to drive related traffic en-mass to your website, then go ahead and splurge on a shopping spree. However, if you buy links to elevate your blog or website, then you have to tread carefully. Buy links from relevant websites with similar or slightly higher ranking to your own. Be prepared for the ‘sandbox’ effect whereby Google will discount the quick change in your links popularity. In other words, your website will be put in a probational period whereby despite all the links, it will not break into the top ranking for any keywords quaries.

However, if over time, your blog’s popularity continues to grow larger, search engines begin to remove the discounts and will give full weight to the link popularity. Search ranking or SERP will rise in tandem.

How To Blog For Newbies Day 26

I dare say, all search engine uses page factors as a critical component in its ranking algorithm no matter how they are changed throughout. These factors will weigh heavily on which page your blog will appear in Google, for instance. Let’s go through them:

Source: www.karate-school.co.uk

1. Link Popularity

Google put great stock in your blog pages if other web sites link to your any of your page for the subject of the search. Let us say that you have a blog that talks about ‘multi zone amplifier’. As it turns out that your website has a particular page that has many links to it that all have the anchor text (the clickable words in the link) ‘multi zone’ or ‘multi zone amplifier’. That will cause the page to rank highly for the queries on these two keywords.

2. Popularity Data

Many blog searchers use search toolbars, the Google and Yahoo toolbar being the most popular. Do you know that these toolbars gather information about which pages are visited most?

Unknown to many of us, the search engines keep track of which pages we are visiting. Ask.com for example confirms using popularity data to give popular pages more clout in the ranking when searchers look for words that appear on those pages.

3. URL Length And Depth

Dynamic URLs with more than two parameters might cause spiders to avoid the page. You should be aware that longer URLs in general, reduce your page’s ranking (or priority since Google has asked us to stop thinking too much about page rank some 3 days ago) in small way.

Search engines are more likely to boost pages that are closer to the root directory of your site. As a result, the same page that locates deep in your site (perhaps at www.yourdomain.com/news/announce/today/top.html) may rank a bit lower than if placed nearer to your home page (www.yourdomain/news/top.html)

4. Freshness

If your blog does not change for a very long time, its rank might be reduced because search engines like Google suspect its information to be out-dated.

5. Page Style

Blog pages that are organized like a newspaper article (important words at the top, kinda repeated throughout, and reinforced again at the end) are sometimes said to have an advantage in SEO.

6. Site Organization

Good design will often help in your blog’s ranking. Avoid using frames and make your site simple to navigate with a well planned linking structure. Sitemaps, remember.

7. Spam Free

Every page on your blog contains text that can inform a visitor and attract search engine. When you try to mislead a search engine with spam techniques, your page will be penalized in ranking, possibly even leading to your site being ‘sandboxed’.

How To Blog For Newbies Day 23

Getting inbound links are probably the best SEO tricks you can ever do for your blog. However, links don’t come easy. People, again being the smart creature they are, has attempted to fool search engines from time to time. However, Google and his peers are getting harder and harder to fool with tricks like these:

Source: BlackHatSeo.com

1. Blog Spamming

This is a controversial subject. Many popular and well written blogs are given enormous importance by search engines. As a result, links from these blogs are organically important to bloggers whom are familiar with SEO techniques. Readers could subscribe to them to read the latest post and put in comments. Trouble usually starts from here.

Blog spammers will post unrelated messages containing links to URLs that the spammer wants to boost in the search rankings. Many bloggers now block readers from posting comments.

2. Guest Book Spamming

A guest book allows visitors to post their contact information and comments about a Website. Sadly, lazy bloggers or spammers started to post their blogs URLs in guest book comments to impress Google. Some actually resort to using programs to automatically post their URLs to add thousand of links with no manual effort.

3. Link Farms

Honestly, I have nearly fall into this trap in one of my experiment. Sneaky webmasters set up dozens of sites that can be crawled by search engines, just so they can put in thousands of links to sites they want to boost in search rankings.

Nearly all search engines like Google, Open Directory, Ask.com have powerful mechanisms in detecting deceptive practices related to their search results. A blog with a sudden explosion of inbound links from unrelated websites is definitely a sure fire way to court penalization.

4. Hidden Links

You can even hide links using the same technique I have explained in my earlier post on “5 Easy Ways To Get Your Blog Banned By Google“. Hiding links enables your links to be seen only by bots, so you can load a lot of links on high-ranking pages to other other pages you are trying to boost.

5. Link E-Mail Spamming

Instead of spamming the search indexes, this trick spams the inbox of unsuspecting bloggers, requesting links from their sites. Spammers and lazy webmaster would again use programs that unleash e-mail spam on websites.

6. Fake Two Way Links

Many sites will link to yours if you agree to link to theirs in return. However, some bad apples will try to trick you by employing links that search engines could not see. In this way, you might think that you got the link back but Google refuses to give you credit for it, allowing your more cunning ‘collaborator’ to get credit for the more valuable one way link from your blog site.

Just goto the linking site with JavaScript turned off and see whether the link to your site works.

So, just make sure you are not fooled and please do not indulge in trying to fool the search engines and anyone else.

How To Blog For Newbies Day 22

Tricking Google or Yahoo to rank your pages higher than they deserved is called spamdexing, or simply spam. There are a host of spam techniques and they can easily get your blog or website banned from search engines. Trust me, you don’t want this to happen because once your site is blacklisted, it’s no easy task to regain back the trust of the big G and the rest of the SEs.

Source: cdn-i.dmdentertainment.com

There are multiple ways of tricking the search engines, people being the clever creatures they are. However for my post, I would only describe to you about content spamming techniques. Mind you, my goal is not to teach you how to perform these techniques. Rather, you should know adequately enough to spot them to prevent your site from running afoul of the rules and suffering the consequences. Try to spot these methods on a fellow blogger’s site so that you could advise him from having his site blotted out.

1. Doorway Pages

Any page that is designed solely to achieve high search rankings, without adding any value to your visitors, is considered a doorway page. However, search landing pages are not doorway pages!

2. Keyword stuffing

Known also as keyword loading, this technique is really just an overuse of sound content optimization practices. It’s correct to use your target keywords on your search landing pages, and thus, use them often. Unfortunately, when you start throwing them in just to attract the search engines’ crawlers to your pages, they might be flagged. Dumping out of context keywords like ‘sex’ into the alternate text for images is one variety of this same unethical technique.

3. Hidden Text

HTML offers many opportunities to place text in front of the spider that human visitor will never see. Fonts with similar color to the background is in a way shunned by some search engines. Displaying texts in unreasonably small sizes is also one hoary spam technique.

Newer approaches include utilizing style sheets to write keywords on the page that are then overlaid by graphics or other page elements. In a nutshell, anytime you can see text in the HTML source of a page that does not show up when you view the page in your browser, it is probably a spam.

4. Duplicate Tags

Using duplicate title tags or other metatags have been speculated to boost rankings in the past. The same style sheet approach that can hide text could also overlay text on top of itself. As a result, it is shown once on the screen but listed multiple times in the HTML file.

Frankly, I’ve tried this approach once on one of my website and I see no evidence that it has benefited from this rogue technique.

5. Duplicate Sites

Why stop at duplicate tags when you can clone your whole website?? Go ahead and duplicate your contents in slightly different version under several domain names and then have each of your sites link to each other. The very thought of the consequence has just send a chill through my spine.

Bear in mind, these techniques I have just described to you do work. Search engines do get fooled, because they are after all mere programs created by human. However, spam techniques are akin to stock tips. When you hear about the tip, it is probably too late to apply them. Google might have already put in place a counter attack measure to punish those webmaster who is naive enough to resort to such ‘lazy’ strategies.

How To Blog For Newbies Day 22

I’m not an expert domainer, but I have managed to get some good advice on the reasons for getting the right domain name in your internet business.

Naturally, choosing a domain name is also essential if you want to have your own blog. Your own web address plays an important role in building a strong brand for your hard work. So start learning how to blog with your own domain name !

Begin by searching from a domain name registry. A domain name should include your most important keywords as much as possible. This is due to the way Google matches the text of ads (sponsored keywords) and indexes websites against the search terms that users type in.

Even though Google’s bots are superbly capable of indexing the entire content of millions of websites, the domain name of a site – much like the title of a book – is still the clearest guide to relevance. For example, if a user search for ‘How To Blog’, and the domain includes those words, that’s a strong indication that it’s relevant to this particular user, thus Google will tend to place it higher up in the search ranking.

Apart from that, on Google result pages, the terms that the user typed in will be highlighted in bold wherever they appear. If part or all of your domain name end up in bold, they will make your ad or listing entry more likely to be spotted by the searcher.

Top-Level Domain

The top-level domain (TLD) is the final part of the web address, such as ‘.com’, ‘.net’, ‘.org’ or ‘.us’. If you are aiming primarily at the US market for your blog, it make sense to choose .us. For an international audience, it’s best to consider .com. However, it all depends on your intended identity. In your targeted market, do you believe that being perceived to be a US company will result in more sales? Normally, most of my domain mentors will suggest to get a .com, irregardless of your audience’s geographical location.

The Next Alternative

What if the domain name you want has already been taken? Try other TLD extensions like .biz, .info, .ws and .mobi. Observe that each name exists separately within each TLD. Therefore, if someone already has howtoblog.com, you still can register howtoblog.biz and so on.

However, unless you have a compelling reason to use these alternative TLDs, they should be avoided. For instance, there’s little point in spending money in marketing the name ‘ Jude’s Textile’ if users who go to judestextile.com (which is the most obvious domain) will find a completely different company-particularly since this domain is also likely to rank highly in the Google search results when people look for ‘Jude’s Textile’.

For a business targeting users of mobile devices, .mobi might be justified; if you are a pan-European personality, .eu is a valid choice. The TLD .biz was invented to provide an alternative to .com, so is .us, but its obvious which one I would consider had higher credibility.

If the desired domain name is taken, try reorganizing the keywords in a different order or turning nouns into verbs. Maybe you can even get the existing domain name owner to sell it to you at a reasonable price.

If you are just into blogging, forget about buying combinations of all possible keywords. Get one with the best possible keyword or key phrase and just stay focus. You can perform SEO on the domain later to optimize on the long tail keywords of your choice later.

Instructions On Domain Registration:

1. Search The Internet

Start by choosing your desired domain name from registrars like GoDaddy.com. You should be looking for all reasonable combinations, so that if your research leads to a different name later, there’s a possibility that you have already bagged it. Make use of Google Adwords Keyword Tool to get the best phrase combinations (this is another lesson altogether).

2. Which TLD?

Try to get .com wherever possible. If not, a .net or .org would also suffice. For all you know, you just need one domain for your blog, so it really doesn’t matter which TLD. However, just keep in mind, a .com will be better indexed and a better value if you want to sell it later.

3. The Detail

Please make sure you get the registration details correct. If the domain is to be owned by your very own limited company, that should be reflected in the registration. Otherwise, register it to yourself. A domain name can have a value because there are markets out there trading in domain names. Make sure you stand to get the benefit.

4. Get Ready To Pay

Time to pay up! Luckily, domain names are cheap, but again, that doesn’t mean you should go on a shopping spree without any discipline. Those ending in .com cost only around USD 10 and you are allowed to register them for a minimum of one year.

So good luck for now. If you happen to get the very name that you desire, keep us informed. Let us share in to your joy.

Source : welovecomments.files.wordpress.com

Do you know what I’m thinking? As a whole, we bloggers are a smart lot. After learning how to blog, for let’s say, 2 months, you know that you have enough contents. You check your analytics every evening but the traffic is still unsatisfactory. Recall back all the blogging tips that you have read. The SEO tricks. Now it’s the right time to concentrate on your blog traffic. Think of the conventional entrepreneur. What would he do?

The entrepreneur would probably start to do some marketing for his shop or products. In order to stimulate customers’ curiosity, he may bring in some trendy products. These products may just be a fad at the moment but as long as they are able to attract new customers, nobody cares.

You could scan Google Trend and look for the latest searches. At this moment, the most searched key word “Haiti” in Google Trend, you would see a sudden surge of interest on the keyword due to the disaster that happened some 9 to 10 days ago. Con-operators around the world have taken advantage of the disaster by buying up domains related to any keyword related to Haiti, Haiti earthquake to garner donations from unsuspecting philanthropist from around the world.

As for bloggers, should we or should we not take advantage of these issues?? When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the keyword ‘Katrina‘ peaked from 25 August 2005 to September 2005. However, the traffic tapper off as abruptly as when it increased. From this, we can safely predict that the search for anything about Haiti’s disaster would soon be over and if you want to add any post regarding the issue, you just have to be prepared for the downtrend.

How about speculating on the future? After the Haiti Earthquake, seismologist and scientist from around the world have made various predictions on the next tectonic movement. The whole world suddenly stood up and pay attention to earthquake prediction in Sumatra, Turkey and… I forgot where.

Anyway, this post is an experiment that I’m carrying out to gauge how all these keyword would affect her traffic. It’s also one of the shortest content I’ve posted in my blog. Happy blogging!

How To Blog For Newbies Day 14

After reading this post, many of your should be able to call yourself a SEO Apprentice. Now, not only have you learned how to blog, you would also learn how to do search engine optimization on your site.

Although this post would not be able to guarantee your blog to be listed at the top of Google, it will definitely increase the frequency of your blog being indexed in the search engine. Actually I’m a tad worried that my advice here would be taken too seriously by you, lest you would hold me responsible if your blog don’t make it into the top page.

Please understand that the search engines, especially Google is constantly evolving. Month old tricks of SEO deceit would probably be irrelevant by the time you are reading this. Bear in mind, that the only SEO strategy that would never go out of date is through providing regular thematic contents.

Previously, SEO was probably known to a priviledge group of programmers and computer scientist. However, as the age of internet explosion, more people are exposed to this wonderful technique. My knowledge on SEO was taught to me by my mentor and research made via the internet. As a result, it is only fair that I share my limited knowledge to the readers of HowToBlog.org, so that we would improve together as a group of new bloggers.

As you would recall from my previous post on “What is SEO to a blogger?“, SEO is all about telling the bots of Google, Yahoo and other search engines about your site’s availability. Before you even start your blogsite, SEO should already be ingrained in your mind:

SEO Tip 1: Selecting The Right Keywords

The selection of the right keyword actually begins with the purchasing of your first domain for your blog. If I were to build a website using my own name, for example robinong.net, what is the chance of Google bots discovering me in the world wide web as compared to HowToBlog.org? See the logic.

I’m not saying that you should hurriedly dump your blog now and start searching for a keyword rich domain. You could still utilize the right keywords to optimize your site. For example, if robinong.net is all about blogging, I could still use keywords like “blogging, blog, how to blog” to optimize my site. However a good domain name is a good start.

Choose keywords that you feel that the chance of ranking good in the search engine despite the competitors using the same keywords. Contrary, you should not look for keywords which nobody looks for. Finally, focus your keywords with the theme that you wanted to blog about. For example, if your blog is about cats, you should use keywords related to this domestic feline, like “feline, cat, purr (and others)”

SEO Tip 2: Insert Keywords With Basic HTML Language

I usually add these at the header page. Just go to Theme -> Editor -> Header. Insert these html after the head:

<title>Cat Blog<title>

<meta name=”keywords” content=”cat, feline, cat food“>

<meta name=”description” content=”Your resources about caring for your cat“>

SEO Tip 3: Create Focused And Regular Contents

Right, when you are talking about cats, do not sway from this subject. You could blog about the species of cat, cat’s behaviour, cat’s care and cat’s food. Never boast about your chess conquest in this blog.

By diverting away from your theme, you are making your blog confusing to the spiders and also, pushing your readers away from returning to your site. Your readers would only give you so much chance and it’s up to you to capitalize on them.

SEO Tip 4: Do Not Overstuffs The Keywords

Never overuse keywords. The use of keywords should not take up more than 12 – 24% of the entire body text. Search engine considers this as spamming and it’s never nice to be in the bad books of Google, Yahoo, or the rest.

SEO Tip 5: Get Backlinks

From my own experience, one of the most tedious step in SEO is getting backlinks. Backlinks that come from more reputable sites but with similar theme.

There are numerous ways to generate backlinks. Firstly, send your contents to social bookmarking sites like Digg.com and Reddit.com.

Secondly, submit your contents to popular submit articles directory like ezinearticles, hubpages and others.

Thirdly, ask for consent from your peers and more established bloggers for link exchange. However, this can never be easy. Most of the time, your request will be ignored but, you still have to go on trying. It’s fun though when they do respond to your request.

SEO Tips 6: Never Succumb To Engaging Link Farms

By engaging link farms, you could probably bid ‘Sayonara’ to your website because search engines will likely to ban it for life.

My list of SEO tips is by no means exhaustive. I am still a considered a novice in SEO and if you have any comments about my post, please feel free to give your opinion. In fact, some of these tips may have flaws in them, who knows. Just be honest and I would try my best to correct any mistakes that I might have made in this post.

How To Blog For Newbies Day 13

Now that you have bring your blog up, you need to do some management on your site. One of them is SEO.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization enables crawlers from search engines like Google, Yahoo, Technorati and many others to crawl on your site, even when you are just learning how to blog in your own sweet time. In other words, SEO is done to enable your blog to be discovered and indexed in search engines.

Imagine, yourself as a chef. With dedication and hard work, you created your first signature dish. Now, just think of what would happen if your pride is not found in the menu!

As bloggers, we don’t have to be a master in SEO. Creating contents is busy enough. We don’t need to delve into the details like algorithms, programming and taxonomy. However, with basic understanding it would do us a lot of good when we manage our website. Engaging a SEO consultant involve thousands of dollars and trust me you don’t need to pay that money.

Basic SEO is actually all about common sense and simplicity. As part of our learning in how to blog, learning SEO encompass two aspects. The first is about how spiders work and the second is on how search engines figure out what documents relate to which keywords and phrases.

Search engines like Google and Yahoo send out electronic ‘spiders’ to collect data on a particular website. These spiders pays a visit to your site, and copy its content which are the stored in the search engine’s database.

Also known as ‘bots’, these spiders are designed to trace links from one document to another. These spiders are hard workers. They work tirelessly, copying and assimilating contents from one document, record links and follow up in sending other bots to duplicate contents on those linked documents. By sending out spiders and collecting information in a continuous manner, these major search engines contain large amounts of established databases.

Spiders are designed to read a site’s information just like a human do. They start from the top left hand corner, and would read the content line by line from left to right. If columns are used, these spiders will read the left hand column until complete, before moving to the central and then right hand column. If a spider encounters a link it can follow, it will record that link and send another spider to copy and record data found on the document the link leads to. The spider will follow through the site until everything is thoroughly recorded.

Once the bots have followed the links and have recorded everything in their paths, we can securely assume that if a link to a site exists, the bots will find that site. We no longer need to submit our sites to the major search engines. Bear in mind, these bots are perfectly capable electronic beings. They are capable of finding any sites on their own, provided there is a link to that particular site somewhere in the world wide web.

Both Google and Yahoo have uncanny ability to judge the topic or the themes of the document they are examining. They would then judge the topical relationship of documents that are linked together. As a result, the most valuable links come from the sites that preaches on the same topic. So, forget about getting unrelated links from any site you encounter. Not only they don’t help, if overdone, they may even jeopardize your reputation in the eyes of the search engines.

Ok once the bots come to your site, you must welcome them. One of the best way is to provide these bots with a clear pathway around your website. You could do this by providing easy to follow text links directed to the most important pages in the site, probably at the bottom of each document. I have construct a simple site map in this site for your reference.

Providing the bots access to the areas within your site in which you want them to visit is only half the battle won. Another half of the battle lies in the usage of keywords in your content. Basically, search engines are supposed to provide their users with lists of documents that relate to their entered keyword phrase or queries. Google and Yahoo need to determine which of the billions of documents are relevant to a small number of specific words. To achieve this, the search engine needs to know your site in relationship to those words.

Basically, there are four elements that a search engine would examine when gauging a blog. First the URL of the site, then followed by the title of the site. Thirdly, the search engine would examine the description meta tag. Thus, titles should be written using the strongest keyword targets possible. I would provide SEO Tips on the next post.

Next is the content. Your content should focus to the theme of your blog as much as possible. Bots are efficient but they will get confused if your blog covers multiple topics on each page. Forget about the bots, even your readers would be perplexed.

Please remember, SEO is all about making your site visible, easy to follow, easy to read and understandable to the spiders and the readers. SEO is a never ending action but it gets easier as you progress. In the end, if you do the SEO right, all your effort will pay off.
