CommentsHow Many Money Making Blogs Can You Handle?
Posted by Jonnotie on January, 10, 2011
Those of you who have started blogging for money for at least 5 months would understand what I’m talking about. The urge to start another blog project, but this time, you tell yourself it’s not going to be just a Google Adsense blog. Something else…
Even for those of you who prefer to stick to adsense, you may want to start blogging on another niche, this time it’s a money maker. ‘Mesothelioma’!! It costs an advertiser around $200 on this keyword alone so what can go wrong?

Your Latest Ambition
5 months down the road when you actually did survive the dreaded 190 days of blogging, you might start seeing earnings coming from Google Adsense. Even a trickle convinces you that your effort is indeed real and this blogging thing may one day bring you out from your dreaded 9 to 5 job. Now, ever wondered what another blog would be able to do to your PPC income from Google Adsense?
There are people who make money flipping domain names. Business model is simple enough. They try to register pretty good domain names and resell them for a profit. Some sell enough to afford them into buying higher value ‘generic’ domain names and try to resell them at premium prices. Think Blog.com or Blogging.com. In other words, they sell thoroughbreds.
We bloggers are but a small part of the so called domain developers. Blogging for money involves putting renewing contents about a certain niche topic and then try to earn income from this, Adsense PPC or in the active selling of tangible and intangibles. The beauty about blogging is you don’t actually need a beautiful name for a domain to see early success. Just buy any name, put in relatively sufficient contents, SEOs and you will be able to turn a donkey into a horse. However, the key in this is about focus and concerted efforts. Don’t forget the keywords in your domain name though.
I got this idea from a domainer cum blogger called Tia Wood. Imagine drops of water hitting at the same targetted point of a mountain for perhaps a hundred years. No matter how soft the effort, after a hundred years, a dent will form. Now guess what would happen if these same amount of droplets scattered in a 100 meter radius for 100 years…forget about a dent, not even a weed would grow.
If you are alone, working on your blog for 2 hours a day because you have a full time job, you should see minor results within 5 months of blogging. I’m talking about fairly worthwhile niche with pay per click advertising at around $2 to $6. With super competitive niches similar to mesothelioma, it’s a different ball game. Gosh…you might need a small team to work on one single blog in this kind of niches…asbestos poisoning, asbestos cancers etc.
Resources
All businesses need a business plan. If you don’t know how to do a business plan, just keep this in mind. How much resources do you want to allocate to your blogging effort in terms of time, manpower and money?
Free CMS systems like WordPress, Joomla and Drupal have put a lot of webdevelopers out of job for the last 5 years. But for those of us who build money blogs, WordPress is a gift from heaven. Let’s put this in perspective:
Previously, you will either need to learn html or hire a freelance web designer to put up a blog template for you. With a logo design, this could easily set you back by $ 3000 to $ 4000.
Now, you can totally forget about hiring a web developer. Therefore all you need for your first blog is:
domain name (hand-registered) – $ 9.00
Web-hosting – $ 7.00 x 12 = $84
your time – 2 hours every night for research and blogging
The game change when you start your second blog or a third blog. It’s still cheap in the domain registering and web-hosting. Multiple blogs and websites can be used in one web-host(unless your website turned into a Facebook or twitter). But your knowledge and time is the limiting factor. Most of you will tell me to get some freelancers to do the research and writing for you. Now, you have to really think business at this stage. How do you want to finance these latest efforts of yours? From your first blog’s earnings?
I wouldn’t advise you to dig into your savings just yet at this point. Try to finance your effort from a portion of your monthly salary if you can. Find out how much a good writer will cost you in Freelancer.com or elance.com. From here, calculate how much you would have to fork out per month if you want to put in 2 to 3 posts per week to boost your blog’s standing.
This is no rocket science when it comes to building money making blogs. It’s all about calculating how much can you stretch yourself in this marathon business
. Good luck!

Most beginners will have a much easier time if they did some solid keyword research before they buy a domain and start blogging.
All you need to a long tail keyword that receive a decent amount of searched on Google and have low competition.
Make a few backlinks and start blogging, that’s all it takes to make money onlie these days.
These small blogs are also known as “micro niche blogs”.
Try Google it or ask at make money forum.
