Learn How To Blog Explosively With 9 Blogging Tips

How To Blog For Newbies Day 10

HowToBlog.org

Tips on learning how to blog are abundantly found on the information highway. You can find them from books, internets or even discussion in forums.

In fact, I would say most of the new bloggers have already hunted for blogging tips even before they started. However, no verbal advice can beat experiencing first hand practical information.

Most of the blogging tips I presented below will address the needs faced by most newbies. The list however, is by no means exhaustive. I would continue to add on to this list as we progress. Remember, one can never stop learning.

Blogging Tips 1 – Choose A Bloody Good Blog Topic

Choose a good topic for your blog. Please refer to my earlier post on How To Choose Blog Topics That Fly.

Blogging Tips 2 –  Nothing Beats Practical Experience

Now that you have chosen your topic and posted your first post. Do you feel excited or detached? Please understand, the information that comes from someone who does research on a topic solely for writing is very different from the work of another hands-on person.

Take my example on HowToBlog.org. Before I started this project, I have totally zero experience on blogs and websites. I know nothing about WordPress, domains, web host and SEO. I started buying books and got a lot of valuable lessons from my mentor. My mentor even provided me with a hosted website and asked me to play with it. Sadly, even with all these, I still could not start.

What did I do? I decided to go into GoDaddy.com and register myself a domain (actually I bought 4 domains on that night). I walk the process. My first baby is a domain called SphereScreen.com. Well, I got it hosted, did some study on display technology and started posting contents, short contents.

Through SphereScreen.com, I started asking deeper questions. And with these, my mentor gave me deeper answers.

Blogging Tips 3 – Read Other Bloggers’ Work

Billions of blogs and websites are found in the blogosphere. If you are a beginner, chances are, most of these blogs are better than yours. They have higher page rank, more traffics and listed in the earlier pages of the search engines.

If you are into technology blogs, visit sites like cdnet.com, techcrunch.com, zdnet.com, engadget and gizmodo (among others).  See how the top bloggers write.

Blogging Tips 4 –  Put Comments On Other Blogs

Although writing contents take up a lot of our time, we should never forget to make friends with fellow bloggers. This should be part of the routine management of your blog.

Making relevant comments on other blogs is synonymous with telling your fellow netizens that you are around. Take this opportunity to promote your blog. Subsequently, continuous exposure would make other bloggers want to create backlinks to your site. Backlinks open up traffics and its part and parcel of Search Engine Optimization.

Blogging Tips 5 –  Make Sure To Write Regularly

Write as often as you possibly can. Although there is no definite figure, you should make it a point to post as regularly as possible. I would say, at least 3 times a week for the search engine bots to crawl on your site. Search engines love to see content updates.

Writing regularly is also the best way for us to improve on our writing.

Blogging Tips 6 – Learn Basic SEO

The most basic SEO involves the using of keywords. Use Google Adwords Keyword to determine the most searched keywords related to your blog contents.

For example, if you are writing a post about LCD Technology, the keywords would be LCD, technology, backlights, liquid crystals and more. Look at how frequent the keywords are used and make use of this knowledge to plan your presentation.

Blogging Tips 7 – Learn How To Mingle in Social Networks

Make use of social networking like Twitter, Facebook , MySpace, etc. to market your blog. Mind you, the usage of social networking in blog marketing is also an art by itself and requires in depth studies. There are some of differences when you mingle with the communities in Facebook as compared to Twitter.

As a result, spend a few days in between writing contents and show up in these networking sites. Socialize  whole heartedly when you engage with these communities. Be genuine although you would think that it’s more worthwhile to go back to creating contents for your blog.

Blogging Tips 8 – Never Say Die

I could not emphasize more on this. Building traffic for your blog is like building a business. Both needs perseverance, consistency and a never say die attitude.

Just like a business, sometimes you would feel like giving up especially with those of us who is on to this part time. If we give up, we will never escape the rat race. There will be people who would try to discourage you and the best way around this is to avoid them like a plaque. We need mentors and peers who share the same passion as us.

Blogging Tips 9 – Don’t Think About The Money Yet

I know this may sound crazy for many, but one of the best way to keep us going is to forget about the money. Blog on the topic that you have a burning passion on. Give yourself a year to live your passion in the guise of your blog. Forget about putting AdSense too early into your website.

When the traffic comes, then the money would follow.

The patience part is the hard part. Writing articles and pouring your heart into them only to have them ignored is hard on the will to go on.

Great advice!

Not only patience, but our discipline to stick to our topic is also important buddy.

Commenting on other blog is a great way to get more exposure and there is a free plugin that promotes comments it is called the “commentluv” plugin you can make a search on it online.
