How To Blog For Newbies Day 19

Do you know what I’m thinking? As a whole, we bloggers are a smart lot. After learning how to blog, for let’s say, 2 months, you know that you have enough contents. You check your analytics every evening but the traffic is still unsatisfactory. Recall back all the blogging tips that you have read. The SEO tricks. Now it’s the right time to concentrate on your blog traffic. Think of the conventional entrepreneur. What would he do?

The entrepreneur would probably start to do some marketing for his shop or products. In order to stimulate customers’ curiosity, he may bring in some trendy products. These products may just be a fad at the moment but as long as they are able to attract new customers, nobody cares.

You could scan Google Trend and look for the latest searches. At this moment, the most searched key word “Haiti” in Google Trend, you would see a sudden surge of interest on the keyword due to the disaster that happened some 9 to 10 days ago. Con-operators around the world have taken advantage of the disaster by buying up domains related to any keyword related to Haiti, Haiti earthquake to garner donations from unsuspecting philanthropist from around the world.

As for bloggers, should we or should we not take advantage of these issues?? When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the keyword ‘Katrina‘ peaked from 25 August 2005 to September 2005. However, the traffic tapper off as abruptly as when it increased. From this, we can safely predict that the search for anything about Haiti’s disaster would soon be over and if you want to add any post regarding the issue, you just have to be prepared for the downtrend.

How about speculating on the future? After the Haiti Earthquake, seismologist and scientist from around the world have made various predictions on the next tectonic movement. The whole world suddenly stood up and pay attention to earthquake prediction in Sumatra, Turkey and… I forgot where.

Anyway, this post is an experiment that I’m carrying out to gauge how all these keyword would affect her traffic. It’s also one of the shortest content I’ve posted in my blog. Happy blogging!
