CommentsThe Lonely Road Of Building Business Blogs
Posted by Jonnotie on September, 19, 2010
Many of you who are following my blog deligently may have already become a blogger. Some of you have decided to blog just for fun while many others might have chosen to build business blogs. If you have chosen the latter path, I congratulate you because you are on your way into online entrepreneurship.
Let me warn you, the worst factor about becoming a business blogger will be loneliness. Like me, you are your own boss and nobody will be there to support you, simply because it is tough for them to see what you see and really feel the excitement that you have within the early stages of blogging. Like my wife, she kept on nagging me when I switched on my notebook to work on my blog. Only recently when my Google Adsense started to record some gains that she started to show some ‘support’ to my business. Honestly though, I’m sure she is still not convinced that I could make it one day…. yup, one day.
The loneliness may be unbearable sometimes. One may also turn out to be emotionally scarred and de-motivated right after operating in such a lonely environment. The wait for your visitors to reach the ‘tipping point’ is long whereby the reward might be months or even years away, provided you are doing the right thing. Sadly, the reward might not even come at all to most bloggers.
Kendall Todd, Inc. CEO; Todd Ballenger states that the worst thing about becoming an entrepreneur is that you will operate 80 hrs per week as compaired to sailing away 40 hrs per week when you operate as an employee; and not forgetting getting your salary at the exact date of the month! Posed using the exact same question, Inspire Pharmaceuticals CEO Christy Shafer states the worst factor is that you simply are continuously busy and stressed out and also have much less time for your family. Greatest Pals Pet Care founder Randy Myer states that the worst factor will be the impact in your well being and your household. With cash flow issues, having to lay individuals off, operating eighty hour weeks, the possibility of not able to cover your operating expenses, and loneliness, why in the world would anybody wish to be an entrepreneur?
Most Tom, Dick and Harry in this planet would surely select the safety net of a job as compared to building money making blogs. It’s a long journey and to those who think that they could gain success overnight….I could be wrong.
Apart from the negativity mentioned, there’s another part of the coin that we should look at. Along with the contras, you will find a number of constructive issues that go together with running your own business bogs. Although becoming an entrepreneur isn’t for everybody, let’s look at the upside prior to you make your final choice. So what’s the constructive aspect?
First and foremost, you would have freedom. As opposed to a brick and mortar entrepreneur, a business blogger could afford to have excellent family time. You’ve the chance to make use of all your abilities. Substantial monetary reward goes to he who persevere. You have full autonomy on your future and as time flows, you should have build up enough knowledge and experience to provide a financial safety net for your love ones.
Respect will come from your peers. You will be recognized as a visionaire. You may be providing hundreds of professionals with job opportunities one day and they will respect and appreciate you for this. You’ve fed value to the internet industry and probably improved the lives of some people, not to mention your own. Finally, becoming laid off would be your least concern. You will have in yourself the ability to earn perpetual incomes instead of having to worry about your 401(k) funds evaporating before your demise.
So what will you select? You are empowered to write your story. Therefore, the new chapter starts as soon as you take the first step. Should you find a great niche, give yourself the trust to execute the concept that runs in your mind. You don’t really need a business plan to build a business blog, but you do need a strategy before you start. Don’t take too long though.
Once you have started, you will be relying on lots of self motivation because nobody else would be interested in the well-being of your business blog. Thanks to the law of inertia, a body in movement will remain in movement. The same applies to your blogging because experience and knowledge will accumulate as you progress. Your knowledge, experience and your motivation will form a powerful trinity team to keep you moving as you strive to build a better future. As soon as you start on this quest, the journey will lead you to opportunities unbeknownst to you from the beginning. As soon as you begin, new events and pieces of information will fall into place. The inertia will roll together new information and possibilities to produce a snowball effect to boost your learning curve as you arrive nearer and nearer to your objective.
As a result, one should not wait until all necessary datas are available before you start building your business blogs. In the initial stage, the advantages that come with being an online entrepreneur may be nowhere in sight. You would also be experiencing a lot of downside along the way. All these challenges should mould you into becoming someone flexible, strong-willed, self-confident, with iron like perseverance, and possess a bias towards action. The slow and steady progression would build the leadership in you, yes! You would be hiring free lancers to work on your website or even write for you while you focus on the more important aspect of your online business. As Colin Wahl states, “Go for it, it is an extraordinary opportunity of a lifetime”
The riskiest part of the jigsaw is not about trying and failing. It’s the part when you don’t try and the big question of “What If?” that would linger in your death-bed. The beauty of running business blogs is that, initial failures will fuel your knowledge and steadily, you would see the light at the end of the tunnel.
