I think I am just past the point of using Shift+F10. Are you typing c:/windows/inf or c:\windows\inf? now when i have deleted that too, there is no inf left in the end but the installation hangs at 34 mins. All rights reserved. Now it is formating your drive then setting up files for your XP installation. The last few lines in my setupapi.log included mshdc.inf I deleted this file as per instructions and tired to continue the setup. F12 boot menu can be disabled.
